WHAT
YOU WILL LEARN:
Understanding
the accounting cycle for a merchandising business:
Students
will examine the transactions, financial statements, GST and PST, adjusting
and closing entries for both the periodic and perpetual approaches to
the merchandise company
Specialized
journals and subsidiary ledgers:
Students
will look at two manual accounting systems which use a combination of
specialized journals and subsidiary ledgers
The
ability to describe payroll procedures:
Students will be introduced to the payroll language and procedures used
in Canadian businesses
Interpreting
financial information and analyzing profitability:
Students will look at various means to analyze a company’s profitability
and its long term future
Computerized
accounting procedures using ACCPAC: Students will spend approximately half the course examining
the computerized accounting program, ACCPAC
