• Communication Technology, grade 11 (TGJ3E)
• Communication Technology, grade 12 (TGJ4E)

Yorkdale Adult Learning Center offers an authorized Local Cisco Network Academy Program; therefore the curriculum used is provided by Cisco Systems and is delivered through classroom instruction and use of on-line teaching materials. After successful completion of both components students will be awarded two credits.

In just 18 weeks, you will:

• understand current networking technologies
• gain practical knowledge in the design, building and maintenance of small to medium sized LANs
• have experience in a simulated LAN and WAN environment
• perform basic router configuration on Cisco 2500 series of routers;
• perform basic router troubleshooting
• demonstrate the use of access control lists (ACL) to secure a network;
• configure encapsulation types and interface parameters; Frame Relay, and subinterfaces
• design and segment/subnet a network
• identify networking problems and troubleshooting procedures
• practical hands on experience in configuring LAN equipment
